Forget the giant bouquets and overpriced novelty gifts; give your Mum something she really wants this Mother’s Day – the gift of good health!
There’s nothing quite like showing your Mum how much you love and appreciate her than by helping her to feel physically and mentally fabulous! And isn’t that what Mother’s Day is about, after all?
Here our Fareham chiropractor shares some healthy gift ideas that will leave your Mum smiling long after Mother’s Day is over and done with…
1: Dark Chocolate
If your Mum has a sweet tooth, choose dark chocolate instead of the milk varieties. Dark chocolate contains antioxidants, which can help to counteract the damaging effects of free radicals that are thought to contribute to heart disease.
2: A Fitness Hamper
Instead of a hamper filled with sweets and chocolate (and with usually a bottle of wine or two thrown in!), why not make your own fitness gift basket and pack it full of healthy snacks and exercise gadgets? It doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg to fill; something along the lines of a yoga DVD and a couple of fluffy new towels on some pretty crepe paper will make your Mum happy and help her to stay healthy!
3: A good night’s sleep
Some of the best gifts don’t cost a single penny and a good night’s sleep is one of them! Offer to take over your mother’s evening chores so that she can catch an early night. Clean up the dinner dishes, run her a nice relaxing bath or for a new Mum, offer to babysit for her to get some rest. Just think of all the sleepless nights you probably caused your Mum when you were a baby – this is a perfect chance to give her some of that time back!
Insufficient sleep is linked to a wide range of health conditions, including back pain, depression and Type 2 diabetes. You can rest assured that a good night’s sleep will benefit your Mum’s health in one way or another.
Remember not to get too sucked in to the commercialised side of Mother’s Day. Your Mum will appreciate a gift or gesture that is aimed at keeping her happy and healthy more than anything else.
Happy Mother’s Day to all you wonderful Mums!
