Well as the saying goes ‘You’re never too old to party!” and it seems that across the UK and Europe we can’t get enough of Summer Festivals. Be it Music, Food, Literature – there seems to be a festival to cater for everyone’s taste.
Whether you are planning on visiting a Festival for a day or are there for the long-haul and doing a spot of camping the chances are you will find yourself sitting or sleeping on hard surfaces, carrying bags or rucksacks and standing for hours on end.
One of more of these has a potential to impact your back!
With this in mind here are a few tips from our Fareham chiropractor to keep your back safe this summer.
Carrying: Rucksacks with wide straps offer the best option for baggage. If you do have a lot to carry always remember it’s better to carry two evenly balanced bags than one heavy bag.
Standing: Wear comfortable shoes and loose clothing. Check your posture when you are standing – you want to make sure that you are giving your back and hips the best possible support by standing with your feet shoulder width apart.
Drinking: Keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water and juice and remember alcohol will cause dehydration!
Camping: Make sure you remove any rocks, tones or sticks from the ground area you are intending to sleep on. Use a good quality camping mat to protect you against hard and possibly damp surfaces. Take a pillow with you and if this isn’t practical then use a blow-up pillow.
Following these simple tips should minimize the risk to your back during your Summer Festivals.
