Research* undertaken on behalf of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA) has revealed that women put up with back or neck pain for on average six weeks before seeking professional help. This contrasts to the three weeks that men put off seeking help.
The research also reveals that 34% of Brits would wait a month or more to seek professional help for their back or neck pain with one in ten Brits not seeking help at all.
The results of the research don’t come as a complete surprise to our experienced team of chiropractors at Homewood Chiropractic Clinic in Fareham. It’s unfortunate that it’s not uncommon for our chiropractors to treat patients who have been experiencing back pain for weeks and sometimes months or even in extreme cases years. Some people have come to believe that back pain is part of life, which certainly doesn’t need to be the case.
Our chiropractors recommend that it’s advisable to seek professional help if you have been experiencing back or neck pain for a few weeks.
Chiropractic treatment offers a natural, safe and effective form of help for musculoskeletal pain. You can find our more about Chiropractic and watch a one minute video explaining exactly what chiropractic is and what is involved on our website here.
Of course prevention is better than cure and simple lifestyle changes can help prevent and ease back and neck pain in many cases. The sedentary lifestyle so many experience in this day and age is causing problems to our bodies. Simple changes that can make a significant positive difference include moving more, exercising, stretching and getting a good night’s sleep.
