Meet Nicky Mills – Clinic Manager at Homewood Chiropractic Clinic

Your First Visit

After completing your part of the Registration forms with the assistance of our Receptionist, you will be shown to a calm, relaxing waiting area. Your Chiropractor will greet you, take you through to your private treatment room and will spend time with you, making sure you understand how and why we ask questions about your health and lifestyle and examine you. They will want to talk about your medical history and current health issues. (if its complicated you may wish to bring in a written copy).

We encourage you to ask as many questions as you like!

Your Initial Examination

We then perform a thorough examination to determine how best to care for you.
An appropriate physical examination will be carried out. This typically includes nerve and muscle tests, joint and postural assessments, strength and balance assessments and evaluation of any injury. We will carry out appropriate tests and assessments to enable us to diagnose your problem. Occasionally we may recommend further tests, on or off site, or refer you for further assessment to another Health Professional. All of the tests carried out at Homewood are painless and non-invasive.

Physical Examination: This includes spinal check, nerve, joint and muscle tests

Postural Analysis: Your Chiropractor will analyse your shape, standing and sitting, and will ask you to perform several movements. Areas of spinal stress, muscle tension, joint abnormalities, postural changes are determined. Information gained is stored on your file so we can monitor progress

Ergonomic/Sports Assessment. The information you give use about your working and sporting habits help us to advise you about healthier options for you.

Your Personal Plan And What To Bring With You

treatment plan

Once we have taken a physical examination and details of your past medical history, we will talk you through how we may be able to help you.

A program of care will be explained to you (including costs) and we will agree on a path of care which you are comfortable with. Of course, any questions or concerns that you have will be answered. We may also discuss with you referring you onto another Health Professional who would be the most appropriate person to take care of you. If this is the case, we can discuss who may be most suitable for you and help you to see them as soon as possible.

Your agreed treatment plan will not always commence during the first session as further diagnostic examination or off site tests may be necessary in some cases. If you are in severe pain we will start treatment the same day wherever possible. We do not insist on weeks of intense treatment with payment plans!

Please bring along details of your referring Doctor or Consultant (if appropriate), any x-rays or medical records you may have, health insurance details including policy/reference number, feel free to bring a friend or relative if you wish.

Your Treatment Visits

Treatment Room

Your treatments typically require 15-30 minutes, although the amount of time required varies from patient to patient and there is no ‘time limit’ to your treatment. We may also wish to run through a simple program of exercises with you to aid your recovery and progress. This may be scheduled as a separate appointment at an appropriate stage in your care.
